
Welcome to Workshops in Exile 2023!
Presented in collaboration with Theatre Philadelphia
Theatre Exile Virtual Workshop Series, “Radical Curation” (Fall 2022) and “Activate Progress” (Spring 2023) developed by our Director of Education, TS Hawkins, serves as a necessity to propel the theatre landscape positively toward equitable sustainability of craft, to and for theatregoers & theatre practitioners. In partnership with Theatre Philadelphia, these workshops aim to support creatives from all facets of life to ensure that the theatre experience is wildly entertaining, boldly informative, and holistically transformative for everyone to witness! #LearnTogetherGrowTogether

- Are you an arts administrator looking to be more inclusive in your marketing and outreach? Choosing inclusive stories and diverse talent is only the beginning of being a truly inclusive theater company. Get the audiences that those stories were meant for! Join LaNeshe and other administrative teams on Saturday, June 3rd from 11:30AM – 1:00PM to learn how to create meaningful partnerships, develop inclusive marketing and outreach strategies, and engage diverse audiences.

- About the Facilitator: LaNeshe Miller-White (she/her) is the current Executive Director of Theatre Philadelphia and has more than 15 years of experience on the Philly scene.

Workshop Focus: Audition, Resume, and Contract Review

- This workshop explores, investigates and reminds creatives to be their own best ally and resource. Join Kalif and other creatives on Saturday, June 10th from 11:30AM – 1:00PM for an all inclusive conversation of creativity around auditioning, resume creation and contract review! Know what to look for and how to bring your uniqueness into the room or virtual space. What questions to ask and the freedom to take up space!
- Workshop Takeaways: Participants will be able to gain a working knowledge of how to create an artistic resume, learn to audition in their uniqueness, receive feedback on their materials depending on their level of experience, garner a basic understanding around contract review with a few resources in order to feel incredibly confident moving forward with contracts. And, of course, network with Kalif who is a forever resource to building community as an artivist!
- About the Facilitator: Kalif Troy (he/him) is an artivist (artist-activist) who hails from Philadelphia, PA with a B.A. in Theater and an exploratory concentration in African American Studies from Temple University. He’s an Actor, Director, Producer and Father.
