The mission of the August Wilson Consortium is to educate our communities about August Wilson’s works and to honor Wilson’s legacy and its contribution to American Theater and African American literature. We seek to implement our mission through staged productions, readings, film, workshops, conferences, and community forums. The guiding principles of the consortium are to utilize theater to raise the consciousness of the people, build an economic base to support black theater and its artists, and develop our aesthetic values to create unity, social change, and empowerment in the African American community.
