A “formidable breeding ground for new work,” including Tony Award-winners Hamilton, Hadestown, The Humans, Doubt and many more, New York Stage and Film is renowned for nurturing hundreds of artists with invaluable opportunities to develop and refine their work. In this special partnership, Philadelphia audiences can experience readings of in-progress plays by Colm Summers and C.A. Johnson, featuring talented casts of actors from across film, stage and TV. Be part of the exciting creative process and see plays before they head to Broadway, as this is what “Stage and Film does best: letting you experience new work before all its questions are answered.” (The New York Times)

Falls by Colm Summers
Thu, Oct 2 @ 7 PM Sat, Oct 4 @ 2 PM
When a young father is diagnosed with Parkinsons, he does everything to protect his relationship with his son. As his condition deteriorates and their roles are reversed, his every expectation of fatherhood falls away. With no tremors, no trauma and a lot of Dad jokes, Falls is a play about fatherhood, care and forgiveness.

Lagniappe by C.A. Johnson
Fri, Oct 3 @ 7:30 PM Sun, Oct 5 @ 3 PM
Once home to sharecroppers, the Bunche Village outside of New Orleans is now made up of their suburban descents who find community at the local corner store. Both harrowing and hilarious, Lagniappe follows their day-to-day lives in this story about loving and longing.  Content Advisory: Lagniappe contains strong language and depictions of drug use and overdose.
