Jacqueline Goldfinger, author of the popular "Playwriting with Purpose," is back with her second book "Writing Adaptations and Translations for the Stage" from Routledge. In her second book, she explores the unique, and often challenging, craft of adaptation and translation, and how you can generate a new work in the shadow of the original. Co-Authored with Broadway/West End translator and dramaturg Allison Horsley, "Writing Adaptations and Translations for the Stage" will be available to Pre-Order from Routledge on April 2.
To celebrate the beginning of pre-orders, and to give you tools to strengthen your own work, she will be holding an online playwriting workshop focused on adaptation during Philly Theatre Week. Each workshop will be capped at 12 attendees.
Each workshop will require you to bring a piece (poem, story, visual art, anything you wish) to use as a jumping off point for conversation about adaptations as well as a writing exercise to help you begin exploring how you might adapt this original piece into a theatrical event. If there is time, we will also share work and you will receive feedback to take home.
