Old Academy Players Presents Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon.

Philadelphia, PA — As part of its 100th Anniversary 2022-2023 Season, The Old Academy Players is proud to present this enchanting story of familial and romantic love on weekends January 13 - 29, 2023. The Old Academy Players’ 532nd production is produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley is a belated sequel to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, casting a new light on one of literature’s most beloved families. Miss Bennet features overlooked middle sister Mary Bennet at the forefront as she attempts to forge her own path and live a life outside of her sisters’ shadows.

Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley was originally produced simultaneously by Northlight Theatre, Chicago, IL, Round House Theatre, Bethesda, MD, and Marin Theatre Company, Mill Valley, CA in November 2016. Reviews were favorable.

“Droll and delicious, MISS BENNET is a charming, confectionary celebration of fan favorite characters from Pride and Prejudice, multi-generationally honoring the legacy of Jane Austen’s humor, playfulness and wit in a warm-spirited holiday theatrical production.” —DCMetroTheaterArts.com.

“…a perfectly constructed love story…Given its fizzy comedy, sweet spirit and clean structure, [MISS BENNET] seems destined to populate future holiday seasons…” —San Francisco Chronicle.

“…an unstuffy, highly entertaining and warm-spirited work, the kind of thing multiple generations can enjoy together.” —Chicago Tribune.

Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley is directed by Jane Jennings, whose previous OAP directing credits include Eurydice, Melancholy Play, and Barefoot in the Park.

The cast includes: Zoe Bentley as Mary Bennet, Brendan Sterling as Arthur de Bourgh, Samantha Simpson as Elizabeth Darcy, Ben Kunkle as Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rachel Dalton as Jane Bingley, Matthew Thompson as Charles Bingley, Julie Hadsell as Lydia Wickham, and Samantha Solar as Anne de Bourgh.

Old Academy Players is located at 3544 Indian Queen Lane, Philadelphia, PA. Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley runs weekends from January 13 - 29 (January 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29). Curtain time is 8 pm for Friday and Saturday evening shows. Matinées are at 2 pm on Sundays.
