As part of the 2024 Fringe Festival, Aurora Classical is proud to present the Philadelphia Premiere of “A Philly Mikado!”
A wacky, eccentric and absolutely fabulous time is what you’ll have at the semi-staged concert version of “A Philly Mikado!” Based upon Gilbert and Sullivan’s beloved comic opera The Mikado, the story is filled with political satire set in today’s Philadelphia, even the characters’ names have been “Phillized”. We love this city. We love G&S. So, why not combine the two? Come, experience the results and have fun!
The stellar cast includes: Martin Hargrove as The Mikado (The Mikado), William Lim as Donahue (Nanki-Poo), Daniel Neer as Co-Co (Ko-Ko), Daniel Pantano as Pooh Bah (Pooh-Bah), Jay Lucas Chacon as Anthony (Pish-Tush), Alize Francheska Rozsnyai as Miriam (Yum-Yum), Sam Rauch as Patty (Pitty-Sing), Emily Carroll Kwak as Maria (Peep-Bo), and Susan Weinman as Katie Shaw (Katisha). Mark Yurkanin will direct the musical ensemble.
One performance of “A Philly Mikado!” will run on Saturday, September 14, 2024 beginning at 4:00 pm. The performance, appropriate for ages 13+, will be held at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion, 2110 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia PA 19103.
