2025 Summer One-Act Bonanza
The Old Academy Players finishes its 2024-2025 Season with a comedic bang as the Summer One-Act Bonanza takes the stage! The annual short play festival will be presented on two weekends July 11 – 20, 2025, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm. Featuring 7 short works from playwrights across the country and a talented cast of 14, this fast-paced presentation is sure to put a smile on your face.

Dinner Theatre written by Caitlin Cieri; directed by Dan Crozier Synopsis: A scheduling glitch has two radio shows appearing live on air – at the same time. Featuring Tiana Richardson as the host/chef of Eau Clair Chef’s Corner and John Pinto as the host/ narrator of the Old Adventure Show
For Richard, For Poorer written by Steven G. Martin; directed by Elliott Rotman Synopsis: An anxious groom has a complete meltdown moments before his wedding. Featuring Sam Fineman as Eddie and RJ Pennington as Richard
Gamma Girls to the Rescue written by Julie Zaffarano; directed by Sarah Labov Synopsis: Three friends prepare to fulfill the final item on a bucket list. Can they do it? Featuring Susan Blair as Ang, Sonya Hearn as Mel and Helga Krauss as Nadia
Gram Scams written by Cary Pepper; directed by Kimberly Hess Synopsis: A telephone scammer exhausts all his patience when a befuddled grandmother takes the call. Featuring Loretta Lucy Miller as Grandma, RJ Pennington as “Michael” and Matthew Johnson as Michael

Threesome written and directed by Nancy Frick Synopsis: Charles and Emma were such a happy couple. And then he showed up – again. Featuring Victoria Anne as Emma, Sam Fineman as Charles and Brendan Sterling as Miles Nancy Frick and Sarah Labov are the show’s producers.

Established in 1923, the Old Academy Players is a diverse and inclusive non-profit volunteer theater organization with the mission “to provide extraordinary and enjoyable theater at an affordable price.” The players perform in the historic Old Academy Building, a 200-year-old building home to “OAP” since 1932. The theater is distinguished by its most notable alumna, Hollywood icon and East Falls native Grace Kelly whose old show programs are on display. Old Academy Players is a member of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. Support is generously provided by the Philadelphia Cultural Fund and the Sylvia W. and Randle M. Kauders Foundation.
