Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge from New Light Theatre

New Light Theatre is gearing up to present Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge, directed by Megan Bellwoar, March 17th through 26th, at OperaDelaware Studios in Wilmington, DE.

Miller’s classic tragedy is set on the docks of Brooklyn in the 1950s, where Italian-American longshoreman Eddie Carbone (John Jezior), has made a life for himself, working the docks to support his wife Beatrice (Trice Baldwin), and their orphaned niece, Catherine (Elsa Kegelman). When Beatrice’s impoverished cousins (David Pica and Cameron DelGrosso) arrive as illegal immigrants from Italy, he is honored to take them into his home. But when Catherine begins to fall in love with one of them, Eddie grows increasingly jealous and agitated, precipitating his searing act of betrayal in a violation of the moral and cultural codes of his community. A View From the Bridge also features Bob Weick, Clark Clement, Ethan Jovanovic, Kevin McCann, Jerrod Ganesh, Wyatt Enslen, Lena Mucchetti and Tom Mucchetti.

New Light Theatre’s mission is committed to bringing light to the darkness of the world, to raising awareness and support for organizations that illuminate, and to deepening our empathy and connection with one another through meaningful artistic work. In accordance with this mission, A View From the Bridge partners with RISE (Refugee Integration Support Effort), a division of Jewish Family Services. As the only refugee resettlement agency in the state of Delaware, RISE at JFS has resettled and reunited families, provided critical case management and counseling services, and engaged community members in the refugee experience through education, volunteerism, and advocacy. Through intensive, culturally sensitive case management, RISE helps refugees and other immigrants integrate and make a home in their new communities, obtain and retain employment, and establish and maintain healthy lifestyles to achieve self-sufficiency.
