Scene Study

This five-week scene study is a structured entry point into Broken Mirror’s Non-Dominant Approach. You’ll be asked to confront habits of control, challenged to let character be revealed rather than sculpted, and guided to integrate your real-time somatic experience into the character's embodiment. This is a course for artists - seasoned and amateur alike, seeking to build practice, find community, and discover a process that gives back instead of taking.
This is an intensive container with a fixed cohort and limited capacity. *ONLY TWO SPOTS LEFT!
Viola Spolin. Acting Through Play
Tuesdays · 6:00-9:00pm · Jan 27 — Feb 17
This 8-week course uses Viola Spolin’s foundational theater games as a pathway back to the instinctive, imaginative, judgment-free actor. Each week, we’ll work through exercises that awaken presence, strengthen the actor–audience relationship, and clarify the essential building blocks of performance: Who am I? What am I doing? Where am I?
While playful in form, the work is rigorous in practice. Games become laboratories for attention, impulse, and relational clarity.
This offering pairs well with scene study or stands on its own as a way back into embodied, responsive work.
Scene Study
Mondays · 6:00-9:00pm · Starts Feb 23
This ongoing course is for the actor seeking continuity rather than culmination. Instead of resetting every few weeks, the work unfolds over time, fostering a culture of practice in which scenes and skills deepen and mature.
In this class, the Non-Dominant approach is a lived experience. You’ll be asked to stay in a sustained dialogue with your craft, sharpening the tools required to remain present, responsive, and fully embodied.
New participants are integrated intentionally into an ensemble already in motion. This offering is a stable home to return to between contracts and auditions, ensuring the work remains a source of sustenance and your craft stays sharp for the field.
