The Media Theatre

The Media Theatre is seeking an experienced voice teacher. The ideal candidate would be able to teach onsite at The Media Theatre at 104 E State St, Media, PA 19063 and will have consistent availability Sunday afternoon/evenings. The Voice teacher on staff will work individually with students to further their technique in musical theatre style voice and expand their repertoire. Students of all experience levels ranging from age 5 to 18 will meet with the voice teacher to engage in general vocal training, rehearse material for upcoming productions and practice competencies for auditions, among many other exercises. 

Expectations

  •  The Voice Teacher will have experience teaching and instructing students with their own personal catalog of curriculum and exercises, and are expected to create a custom-fit style plan for each individual student.
  • The Voice Teacher is expected to have digital or physical content of appropriate music to suggest to students. It would be the responsibility of the student to acquire sheet music in regards to lessons & training.
  • The Voice Teacher may access The Media Theatre’s records of Vocal scores, individual sheet music and inventory, with the understanding that all primary copies are to be returned to its records. Copies may be made and a print allotment of 25 pages per week will be in place. 
  • The Voice Teacher will use the allotted pianos & spaces, with the understanding that the Broadway Series productions and Children’s Series productions take priority should a scheduling conflict arise. 
  • Voice Teachers will be solely responsible for scheduling their own lessons with students, directly communicating to them and/or their parent/guardian. 
  • The Voice Teacher will be teaching on site with consistent availability on Sunday evening and afternoons.

Agreement

  • The Media Theatre and Voice Teachers will enter in a 65/35 split on lessons, with use of The Media Theatre’s pianos, students, office access and music inventory. Students will register a credit card on file at the theatre and at the end of each month, the Voice Teacher will report to the Executive Director an invoice of students who received lessons, and they will charge the amount to those cards, with a deduction taken for the Voice Teacher specifically to be paid at the next payroll week.
  • Lessons offered will include 30 minute lessons at $40, and 45 minute lessons at $55, and $75 per hour.
  • Allotted time slots for voice teaching blocks currently scheduled Sunday afternoon and evening.
  • Lessons would begin at the Voice Teachers earliest convenience
  • Voice Teachers agree for The Media Theatre to use their likeness and promote them as members of The Education Department staff. The Media Theatre will advertise on its social media platforms and website, with direct communication to an email to the above stated voice teacher to register new and returning students for lessons.
