Stage Manager – Bye Bye Birdie

Position Title: Stage Manager
Reports To: Production Manager
Employment Type: Contract

Position Summary

We are seeking an organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented Stage Manager for Bye Bye Birdie. 

Responsibilities

Pre-Production

  • Attend production meetings and rehearsals.
  • Create and distribute rehearsal schedules and reports.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation, including contact sheets, scene breakdowns, and rehearsal notes.
  • Coordinate communication between directors, cast, and crew.

Rehearsal Process

  • Manage rehearsal spaces and ensure rehearsals begin and end on time.
  • Record blocking, and choreography notes
  • Prepare daily rehearsal calls, rehearsal reports, weekly calls and distribute them to the production team/cast.
  • Track props, costumes, scenic elements, and technical needs throughout rehearsals.

Technical Rehearsals & Performances

  • Call lighting, sound, projection, and scene cues during performances.
  • Coordinate backstage operations and scene shifts with the assistant stage manager
  • Conduct pre-show safety checks and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Supervise cast and crew call times.
  • Handle performance reports and communicate any issues to production leadership.

Qualifications

  • Previous stage management experience, preferably with large musical theatre productions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Familiarity with theatrical terminology and production processes.
  • Experience calling cues and working with technical crews.
  • Availability for evening and weekend rehearsals and performances.

PRODUCTION DETAILS

Performance Dates: September 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27
Rehearsals: Begin Immediately
Rehearsals will be held on Sunday afternoons, Tuesday & Thursday evenings, and occasion Saturday mornings
Pay: Actors above the age of 18 will be paid a stipend upon completion of the show.

No housing is provided.

Compensation

$2500 Stipend paid out upon completion of contract
