The Bards Theatre Troupe is seeking three collaborators/performers to create and present I’m The Real One, a devised theatrical piece about generative AI and its impact on the internet, communication, the environment, mental health, human connection, and more. This will be presented as part of 2026 Philly Theatre Week, directed by Jay Adams, with lead artist CJ Higgins.
AUDITIONS
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, February 17th at The Whole Shebang, Moore St &, S 11th St, Philadelphia, PA 19148. The audition will be a workshop format, with two possible workshops from 6-7pm and 7:30-8:30pm. During the workshops, auditioners will work with lead artist CJ Higgins on creating short performance pieces based on pre-existing texts.
Please note about the audition space that it requires traversing one flight of stairs, and that shoes be removed while in the studio space.
REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES
Rehearsals will begin in early March; exact dates will be based on actor availability. Rehearsals will take place in households in South Philly and West Philly (please note the rehearsal locations also require traversing stairs, and are also home to cats).
Performances schedule:
Thu 4/30 - 8pm
Sat 5/2 - 8pm
Sun 5/3 - 1pm
Performances will take place at Sawubona Creativity Project, 1626 Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148
STIPEND
All performers will receive a $150 minimum stipend, which we hope to increase based on ticket sales.
