Quintessence Theatre will be holding EPA auditions for its 15th season of epic, classic theatre on June 23 (noon - 5pm), June 24 and 25 (10am - 6pm, with lunch from 1:30 - 2:30pm.)

The EPA for Quintessence's world premiere production of Fire!! directed by Raelle Myrick Hodges will be taking place on Tuesday, June 17.

Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance

Directed by Alexander Burns

First Rehearsal: October 28, Tech: November 13 – 16, First Preview: November 19, Opening Night: November 22, Closing: January 4, 2026, Ext Closing: January 11.

Frederic - 20s - A member of the Pirates. He is unaffected and possesses an unself-conscious sex appeal. Youthful, genuine and innocent. Vocal range top: G4. Vocal range bottom: Bb2.

Mabel - 18-21 - Daughter of the Major-General. Mabel is a classic beauty similar to Lillian Gish or Mary Pickford. An astute young woman, she is sympathetic in nature. She and Frederic fall in love. Vocal range top: Db6. Vocal range bottom: Bb3.

Pirate King - 25-35 - The leader of the pirates. Despite his sharp and loud bark, he is actually a whole-hearted romantic with a soft bite. A handsome man typically found with an open shirt and wind in his hair. Vocal range top: F4. Vocal range bottom: A#2

Major-General Stanley - 55-65, A father with many daughters. He resembles a male Queen Victoria in his sensibilities. Possesses kindness, warmth, and good-humor. The love for his daughters is undeniable. Vocal range top: E4. Vocal range bottom: Bb2

Ruth - 40s, Frederic's lifelong nanny. A sneaky Mrs. Potts, cares not for vanity. She wants nothing more in life than to see Frederic happy, healthy, and by her side. Vocal range top: Eb5. Vocal range bottom: G3.

Kate - 17-21, Daughter of the Major-General. Quick-witted and rather sassy. She, like her other sisters, is strikingly beautiful. Vocal range top: G5. Vocal range bottom: Ab3.

Edith - 20s, Daughter of the Major-General. Though a level-headed girl, she is quite mischievous. Very beautiful and the eldest of the daughters. Vocal range top: G5. Vocal range bottom: Ab3.

Samuel - 35-45, The Pirate King's right-hand man. Perhaps a bit rotund, Samuel is clever but easily manipulated and influenced. Vocal range top: F4. Vocal range bottom: Bb2

Sergeant of Police - 35-45, The leader of the police. He is Groucho Marx-esque and uncomfortably clumsy. Though their duty to protect is clear, the Sergeant and his police are more accustomed to fear and hide. Vocal range top: E4. Vocal range bottom: G2.

 

Shakespeare’s Strange Accidents – Henry IV parts 1 & 2

First Rehearsal: January 13, Tech: February 5 – 8, First Preview: February 11, Opening: February 19, Closing: March 15, Ext Closing: March 22

King Henry IV - Bolingbroke, usurper of Richard II’s throne, Father of Prince Henry and Prince John and grandson of King Edward III.

Prince Hal, prince of Wales - Son of King Henry. A ne’er-do-well, seen by his father as a party boy and prodigal son.

John, prince of Lancaster - The dutiful young son of King Henry.

Henry Percy, Earl of Northumberland - A noble and disgruntled kingmaker, turned rebel. Father of Hotspur.

Lady Northumberland - Earl of Northumberland’s wife.

Henry Percy, surnamed “Hotspur” - Hotheaded warrior and rebel with Father Northumberland.

Sir John Falstaff - A portly, drunken, knight, and carefree companion of Prince Hal.

Bardolph – A soldier and partner in mischief with Prince Hal and Falstaff.

Lady Percy - The wife of the rebel Hotspur.

Mistress Quickly - Hostess of the Boar’s Head Tavern.

Doll Tearsheet - Prostitute & friend of Mistress Quickly

 

Molière’s The Hypochondriac

Directed by Trey Lyford

First Rehearsal: March 17, Tech: April 9 – 12, First Preview: April 15, Opening Night: April 23, Closing: May 10, Ext Closing: May 17

Argan - 60s. A penny pinching older gentleman and the hypochondriac.

Toinette - Argan’s maid and Angelique’s confidante; smart, spirited, and cunning.

Béline - Argan’s younger second wife; wants nothing but his money.

Angélique - 20s. Argan’s younger daughter; an innocent romantic, devoted to her father.

Cléante - 20s. Angelique’s love interest; a little silly but completely smitten with Angelique.

Doctor Purgon - Argan’s doctor, a notable quack.

Thomas Diafoirus - 20s. Purgeon’s nephew and proposed husband to Angelique; awkward and dull.

Monsieur Fleurant - The apothecary who works with Purgeon; a specialist in enemas, but still a quack.

Monsieur de Bonnefoy - The scheming notary.

 

WHAT TO PREPARE:
To be considered for Strange Accidents (Henry IV Pts I & II), prepare a dramatic verse monologue. 
To be considered for The Hypochondriac, please prepare a comedic monologue. 
To be considered for Pirates of Penzance, please also prepare a 16 bar song cut in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan. 
Please also bring a hard copy of your headshot and resume.
