Company Overview:

NextGen Theatre is a children’s theatre program based in Wallingford PA. We offer classes twice a year, a workshop in December and a full scale musical in the spring. Students in grades 4-12th are eligible to participate in our spring musical. 

Job Description: 

The Rehearsal Stage Manager/Deck Chief will be responsible for 

  • keepings rehearsals running smoothly and on schedule 
  • preparing rehearsal reports for the staff
  • Taking detailed blocking notes, including dance formations
  • Taking notes on changes to music (tempo, cuts, repeats)
  • Playing tracks during rehearsal (computer provided)
  • Taking notes on music placement and need for additional scene change music
  • Helping directing staff with staging scene shifts
  • Work with PSM and designers to creating deck run sheets for performances 
  • Managing a backstage crew of middle school and high school students
  • Set up of stage prior to performances and clean-up after performances  

The Rehearsal Stage Manager/Deck Chief will be supported by an Assistant Stage Manager. 

Rehearsal Stage Manager will not be responsible for, the below tasks will be handled by the Production Stage Manager.

  • Creation or distribution of rehearsal schedules 
  • Calling the show  


Requirements:

  • Previous Stage Management experience
  • Basic knowledge of Qlab
  • Transportation (rehearsals and performances are located in Wallingford and Swarthmore PA)
  • Must be able to pass background checks 

Ideal candidates will have a passion for working with children and have previous experience working with children. The candidate will report to and be guided during the process by the Production Stage Manager.

Salary

Compensation: $1,500 fee paid in two installments on May 1st and June 1st, $300 for transportation. This is an independent contractor position and you will receive a 1099.
