The Walnut Street Theatre is looking for it's next group of Acting Apprentices to learn and grow through our 2025-2026 season!
For more than 35 years, the Walnut Street Theatre's Professional Apprentice Program has provided training ground for early career professionals to bridge the gap between education and the professional world. It provides hands-on experience working alongside professionals in one specific, concentrated area. The program is designed to provide a season of intensive education and work experience in one of several aspects of theatre operation.
This is an incredible opportunity to be part of America’s oldest theatre and gain hands-on experience in a professional environment. Our apprentices are immersed in our upcoming season, featuring a dynamic lineup of productions, and receive professional development, mentorship, and performance opportunities on our historic stage.
Acting Apprentices serve as the Walnut Street Theatre’s Touring Outreaching Company, performing a four-show repertoire and bringing hundreds of shows to schools in the Greater Philadelphia area. Additionally, Acting Apprentices have the opportunity to understudy 2 mainstage shows, are cast in 1 mainstage WST for Kids Series show, and occasionally engage in teaching artist work and additional performances.
All Apprentices receive unlimited free theatre school classes for their duration of contract, and a $500 untaxed weekly stipend to participate in the apprenticeship program. Ultimately, you come away from the apprenticeship with professional connections, extensive hands on experience, and 7 professional resume credits. This is a full time position from September 2025-May 2026!
Housing is not provided, though we do offer assistance finding housing and connection with other apprentices for rooming opportunities.
