Seeking a Piano Teacher for private lessons with students ages 5 and up at Media Theatre. The Piano teacher will work individually with students to further their technique and training in piano and expand their repertoire. Students, ages 5 and up, will meet one-on-one with the piano teacher to engage in general piano training, curriculum-based exercises, and practice competencies. The Media Theatre already has a roster of students excited to work with you! This position is considered an independent contractor and, as such, will be responsible for creating and executing their own schedule to ensure the growth and development of student piano skills.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience teaching and instructing students with their own personal catalog of curriculum and exercises, and are expected to create a custom-fit style plan for each individual student.
  • Provide digital or physical content of appropriate music to suggest to students. It would be the student’s responsibility to acquire sheet music for lessons and training.
  • Work and schedule lessons independently.

Details

  • Piano Teachers may access The Media Theatre’s inventory of scores with the understanding that all primary copies are to be returned to its records. Copies may be made and a print allotment of 25 pages per week will be in place. 
  • Piano Teachers will use the allotted pianos & spaces, with the understanding that the Broadway Series productions and Youth Ensemble Series productions take priority should a scheduling conflict arise. 
  • Piano Teachers are solely responsible for scheduling their own lessons with students directly communicating with them and/or their parents/guardians. A typical schedule consists of two days a week.
  • You will never have to worry about payment. The theatre will ensure the payment of each student and will pay the Piano teacher in accordance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Piano ability required
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience leading and teaching in an individual setting
  • Knowledge of office software, especially Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, and Zoom.
  • Excellent musicianship and experience teaching students at various ability levels
  • Diplomacy and tact when working with a range of people and personalities
  • Self-motivated, honest, proactive, thoughtful, and composed.
  • Individual initiative

Salary
