Announcing auditions for Storybook Musical Theatre's 2025-2026 Season

Storybook Musical Theatre is seeking professional, Non-Equity Actors for three TYA productions. Auditions will be held Monday October 6 from 4pm-8pm and Saturday October 11 from 10am-2pm at the Giant Willow Grove's community rooms at 315 York Rd, Willow Grove, PA. Please prepare a short musical theatre song to show your range and two of the sides provided.

Productions will rehearse the 6 days prior to opening. Daytime availability is required. Pay is $55 per performance and $16 per rehearsal hour. "Adventures in Toyland," directed by Jeff Reim, runs December 16-30, 2025. “Princess and the Pea”, directed by Aileen Goldberg, runs March 10-22, 2026. “Sleeping Beauty”, directed by Dorien Belle, runs May 5 thru 17 and July 15-25.

Character Descriptions

Though roles are written in binary pronouns, Storybook is open to any and all gender identities auditioning for whatever roles they feel most appropriate for in our season. All gender identities and ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to audition.

Adventures in Toyland

*Michael/Michelle: 18+ to play a young boy/girl who is looking for an escape from their nightmares. Preferably under 5'4". He/she needs to find self-confidence and to believe in themselves. Moves well. Tenor/Soprano

*Captain Combat: 20s-40s. Any gender. A soldier doll, similar to G.I. Joe. They are strong, assertive, a team player, and a true Army person. Moves Well. Baritone/Mezzo Soprano

*Pirate Pete: Ageless. Any gender. A friendly pirate with a certain swagger and comedic chops. Moves well. Baritenor/Mezzo Soprano

*Princess Ballerina Belle; 20s-30s. She's a magical ballerina with a similarity to Barbie. Moves well and knows some basic ballet. Soprano

*Ragdoll: Ageless. Comedic, a little ditzy, but well meaning and loveable. Not the smartest toy in the toybox, but she makes up for it in enthusiasm! Mezzo soprano with belt.

Princess and the Pea

*King Edward: 40s-50s. A kind, henpecked father who loves to do card tricks. We all know his wife is the one that rules this couple. Baritone

*Queen Wendilyn: 40s-50s. Domineering and overbearing mother and wife. She will get her way, because mother knows best! Soprano

*Prince Louis: 20s-30s. A valiant, adventurous prince who dreams of something more. A smothered mama's boy. Baritenor/Tenor

*Princess Jerseylee: 20s. A beautiful, practically perfect princess picked out for Louis by his mother. She has some unusual hobbies and a very distinctly odd (and a bit grating) character voice. Mezzo Soprano

*Princess Georgianna: 20s. Please call her George. A gutsy, spunky, strong-willed, sassy, yet extremely kind and loving unknown princess. Moves well. Soprano

Sleeping Beauty

*Princess Briar Rose: 18+ to play 16. An innocent, naive, sheltered girl full of love and curiosity. Caring and thoughtful. Soprano

*Queen: 30s-40s. A doting, caring, concerned mother. Mezzo Soprano

*King: 30s-50s. A selfless, loving father who would do anything for his child. Baritone

*Joycelyn: Ageless. The good fairy. Happy, perky, and helpful. Soprano

*Woodsman: Any gender. Ageless. The witty and magical assistant to Joycelyn. Helps narrate the tale. Tenor/Mezzo Soprano

*Evileen: Ageless. The evil fairy. Regal, entitled, ruthless, conniving, will stop at nothing to get her way. A true villain. Alto/Mezzo Belter

*Prince Bryon: 20s. A daring, fearless leading man on an unknown quest. Must overcome many obstacles on his way. Tenor/Baritenor
