About the Production:
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical is an energetic, family-friendly show inspired by the popular animated series. Featuring an eclectic mix of music from celebrated artists, the production follows SpongeBob and his friends as they unite to save Bikini Bottom from an impending catastrophe. The show is filled with humor, heart, and vibrant performances, making it an exciting opportunity for cast and crew alike.

Our cast ranges from ages 13-18 with a large number of students involved in the production. Much like this show, we work as a team to make our shows happen in a mere 4 weeks.

Job Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and innovative Choreographer to bring movement and energy to our summer theatre intensive. The ideal candidate will have experience in musical theatre choreography as well as the ability to work with a cast of varied skill levels. This individual will collaborate with the Director and Music Director to craft engaging dance sequences that complement the show’s storytelling and musical numbers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and teach choreography that aligns with the director’s vision and enhances the production.
  • Modify choreography to accommodate the abilities of cast members while maintaining visual impact.
  • Attend auditions & callbacks to assess dance proficiency and assist in casting decisions. (Tentative Date: Saturday June 7th, 2025)
  • Lead rehearsals, providing clear instruction and support to performers.
  • Attend all rehearsals, beginning 6/30, during the week (M-F 8am-3pm) and Saturday Rehearsal (7/12 9am-2pm)
  • Work in conjunction with the production team to integrate choreography with staging and music.
  • Be present for technical rehearsals (7/18-7/20), dress rehearsals (7/21-7/22), and performances (7/23-7/27).

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in musical theatre choreography, with a strong background in diverse dance styles. (ie. Musical Theatre Tap, Hip Hop, Modern)
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate young performers.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and a collaborative approach to working with a production team.
  • Previous experience working with youth or community theatre is highly desirable.
