Walnut Street Theatre has opportunities for local non-union kids to participate in our Theatre School Performance Program and be in our holiday production of A CHRISTMAS STORY THE MUSICAL. Richard Stafford is the director/choreographer. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin October 28, 2025. Performances are November 18 - January 4, 2026.
The Performance Program Scholarship includes a weekly stipend, parking, and seminars, in addition to working and learning with a professional company of artists and staff. All kids will be double-cast, with each team performing 4 to 5 shows per week in front of an audience of 900+ at each performance. Rehearsals are Tuesday-Sunday, and the kids are called after 3:00PM on most weekdays. There are rehearsals all-day on weekends, and longer hours beginning on Nov 12 for technical rehearsals before performances begin on Nov 18.
SEEKING:
ENSEMBLE: Strong singing and dancing kids, both boys and girls ages 8-13. Must sing and move well. There are some smaller speaking parts available as well, including Grover Dill, Schwartz, and Flick.
RALPHIE: 9-12. [LEAD ROLE] Caucasian boy (or girl who can play a boy). His voice must be UNCHANGED. A regular cute midwestern kid. Bright, mischievous, and adventurous, but not precocious. Seeking a young kid who comes across on stage as real, but still has a large presence and personality. Must be an excellent singer and dancer, and able to carry a show. High belter.
RANDY: 8-9. [SUPPORTING ROLE] Caucasian boy. Ralphie’s lovable younger brother. Smaller than Ralphie; cute, cuddly, and whiny. He admires his big brother, Ralphie, but won’t admit it. Seeking a young kid who is confident being on stage and comes across as real. Boy’s unchanged voice. High belter.
SCUT FARCUS: [SUPPORTING ROLE] 12-13 boy. Must not be much taller than 5’. A meanie – the bully; Taller than the other kids; there’s nothing about him you want to like. He’s that kid you always made sure to avoid in school. He is loud, obnoxious and intimidating.
