Bristol Riverside Theatre is seeking a part-time House Manager to join our Front of House team. This position works approximately 6–12 hours per week during our performance season (approximately 25–27 weeks per year). Hours are primarily evenings and weekends. Compensation is $18/hour.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated leader with excellent communication skills, strong customer service instincts, and the ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment. A welcoming, friendly demeanor and a commitment to creating a positive patron experience are essential.

Additional hours may be available for candidates interested in cross-training in other Front of House positions.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The House Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for all patrons. Duties include:

  • Managing Front of House operations during performances and special events
  • Supervising and supporting volunteer ushers
  • Greeting patrons and assisting with questions, concerns, and accessibility needs
  • Ensuring the audience experience remains safe, orderly, and enjoyable throughout performances
  • Maintaining public spaces on performance days, including light cleaning, tidying restrooms, and ensuring the facility is guest-ready
  • Assisting with setup and breakdown for special events and receptions
  • Communicating effectively with box office, concessions, volunteers, and production staff

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal communication and leadership abilities
  • The ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • A friendly, professional, and team-oriented attitude
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Prior Front of House, hospitality, customer service, or event management experience preferred
