The PTC House Assistant / Lighting Programmer will primarily be responsible for programming the ION XE console for PTC shows and large rental events. The position will also support the lighting department on installs, strike and maintenance, and work with other departments as needed. This is a part-time position and while much of the programming calendar can be given in advance, other work will be on an as needed basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work alongside PTC IATSE crew members across departments, focusing on lighting, but also working to install scenery, audio, video or props as needed
  • Program the lighting console for all PTC shows as well as more complicated rental events.
  • Serve as a member of the run crew as needed for performances and events
  • Work closely with other artistic and production staff members to ensure communication between departments
  • Work nights and weekends
  • Retain confidentiality on all aspects related to the company, performers, and staff
  • In conjunction with the production staff, maintain a safe, efficient, organized, and clean working environment of all shop and production operations

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong and demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a theatrical setting
  • Experience with programming moving lights and other intelligent lighting fixtures on ETC consoles
  • Experience hanging, focusing and maintaining lighting equipment
  • Knowledgeable of current theatrical technology
  • Strong communication skills
  • Candidate must be resourceful, flexible, organized, collaborative, and positive 

Compensation - This opening is for an hourly position and is represented by the collective bargaining agreement between IATSE Local #8 and PTC. Compensation is $28.90 per hour for all lighting programming and $26 per hour for other work. This rate increases annually based on the collective bargaining agreement.
