History Tour Guide

Job description

Become a tour guide of historic Philadelphia!  Meet people from around the world and show them Philadelphia's incredible history. Set flexible hours and work outside. Compensation starts at $16 an hour and you keep 100% of the tips that you receive.

Must be available to work:

• 2-5 Weekdays this Spring between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Weekend availability is not necessary but at least 1 day per weekend is preferred.

Tour Guide Duties:

• Conduct comprehensive guided walking tours of Historic Philadelphia for tourists, groups, and schools.
• Lead groups of up to 45 people
• Escort groups on a 75 minute tour of approximately 20 historic sites, following a script that provides information and interesting tidbits on Philadelphia's history.
• Promote and sell tour tickets to visitors in the historic area.
• Perform administrative tasks for The Constitutional as necessary.

Essential Skills:

• High energy, friendly and outgoing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to speak effectively in front of an audience.
• Ability to interact comfortably with people with diverse backgrounds and interests.
• Ability to effectively retain large amounts of detailed information and communicate this information to tourists in a manner that is both engaging and entertaining.
• Previous public speaking, acting, customer service and/or sales experience is a plus.
• Enthusiastic history buff and Philadelphia promoter.
• Willing to spend a lot of time outdoors.
