"FOUR WHITE DUDES AND HALF OF A GUITAR" - a 21+ fundraiser presented by GIRLPOPE

Girlpope Theatre Company

Post Date: Jan 23, 2026

Girlpope Theatre Company is a brand-new producing collective in Philadelphia, independently run by Artistic Director Sara Jane Mascelli (with the help of Creative Director, Daylin Rose & Literary Manager, E Quinn)

SJM and company are looking to cast five volunteer actors for this unpaid fundraiser, supporting us as we begin to raise funds for the rest of our 2026 season / Philly Fringe 2026.

This event will be a work-in-progress sharing of E Quinn's newest play Four White Dudes and Half of a Guitar, a fanfiction satire exploring girlhood, fandom, and the way everything felt like life or death when you were thirteen.

We are looking for driven actors of all gender identities who love campy comedy and new play development for a very minimal rehearsal process. We will begin rehearsals in early/mid-February, located in Center City.

The showing will likely be presented in a local queer bar, so we are looking for actors 21+ - BUT we promise there will be opportunities for actors who are under 21 later in our season! Keep an eye out and follow our Instagram!

ABOUT US...

Girlpope seeks to produce accessible theatre for the "fems and freaks of Philly" - currently the midst of their first full season of programming! This includes a series of fundraiser readings, leading up to a fully produced Fringe season. We are passionate about making theatre/events at large that give you a tangible reason to leave the house during these Trying Times - art that is engaged, escapist, queer-joy-centered, and always diverse. We're in the business of making theatre for theatre people, and people who have never seen a reason to give theatre a chance.

Hot off the heels of The Dirty Shirley Show! (the musical that 2025 Fringie winner Rose Luardo of Haute Glue reviewed as "better than Hamilton, RENT and Wicked put together - throw in Matilda as well"), we have set our second public event under the Girlpope name for late February with a Valentine's Day theme, and an art mart/bake sale to accompany it. Come join us in making theatre for the people! Right now, community is all we have <3

How To Apply

Please fill out the form below with your February availability, resume/headshot, and answers to all questions.

Once you've done this, SJM will reach out after the deadline, which is Thursday, February 5th at 11:59pm. You will hear from us, regardless of casting status, by February 8th at 11:59pm. If cast, this correspondence will include a When2Meet to schedule our readthrough and (very minimal) pre-show rehearsals!

Additionally, follow us on Instagram to keep up with all things freaky fem theatre in PHL! We can be found @girlpopetheatreco on Instagram and @thegirlpopeofphiladelphia on TikTok. Thanks for your talents and time :)
