Montgomery Theater EPAs for Hold These Truths by Jeanne Sakata

Director: Makoto Hirano

An exceptional evening of theatrical storytelling, the play delivers the inspirational true account of a civil rights hero who took his fight all the way to the Supreme Court. Gordon Hirabayashi refused to relocate to the Japanese internment camps the American government mandated during World War II. Heartwarming and entertaining, don’t miss this powerful and moving story of Gordon’s fight for freedom for all.

When: Monday, November 25, 2025, 11am-3pm

Where: Montgomery Theater, 124 N Main St, Souderton, PA 18964

The auditions will be monitored by the Director Makoto Hirano, along with Artistic Director Tom Quinn, Associate Artistic Director, Kristin Heckler and also a desk monitor, Caitlyn Colgan.

The following role will be considered for 1 principle AEA contract:

Gordon Hirabayashi:
Late 20’s to 40 something (male presenting). This solo character is a Japanese American, University of Washington student and practicing Quaker. He struggles to reconcile his deep admiration for the U.S. Constitution with the government’s 1942 orders to forcibly remove and intern over 120,000 people of Japanese descent from the West Coast. His remarkable resistance ultimately leads to the famous Supreme Court case Hirabayashi v. United States, and continues to resonate today as we encounter questions of national security, citizenship, and what it means to be an American. Also portrays 37 other characters.

Rehearsal schedule: January 14 thru February 5. Tues. thru Fri. 12 noon to 6pm, Sundays 4pm to 10pm. Tech week 4pm to 10pm
