Boleros for the Disenchanted by José Rivera
Step into this heartfelt, bittersweet story of love, faith, and resilience! Directed by Natalie Payán, produced by Ally Batot & George Mulford. We are seeking passionate Latiné actors to bring this tale to life!

Auditions will include readings from the script (some provided in advance, others as cold reads).
Optional: Up to 2 contrasting monologues (1 minute each).
🌟 Character Breakdown & Requirements 🌟
We are casting 6 Latiné actors who will double up for different roles in each act:
ACT I (1953):
- YOUNG FLORA (20s): Latina, female presenting, self-assured and ambitious, searching for her life partner despite heartbreak.
- DOÑA MILLA (40s-60s): Latina, female presenting, Flora's wise, traditional, and diplomatic mother.
- DON FERMÍN (40s-60s): Latino, male presenting, Flora's macho and nostalgic father, embittered by the past.
- MANUELO (20s-30s): Latino, male presenting, Flora's fiancé, self-absorbed and full of bravado.
- PETRA (20s): Latina, female presenting, Flora's sincere and optimistic cousin, a dreamer.
- EUSEBIO (20s-30s): Latino, male presenting, confident, charming Navy man who sweeps Flora off her feet.
ACT II (1992):
- OLDER FLORA (60s): A matured version of Young Flora—diligent, devoted, and the primary caretaker of her husband.
- OLDER EUSEBIO (60s-70s): Aged, with one leg amputated, he uses humor to deal with life's difficulties.
- MONICA (20s): Demure and religious, Monica is one half of a young couple Flora counsels.
- OSKAR (20s): Bad boy turned Navy man, he is in love with Monica and part of the young couple Flora counsels.
- EVE: A nurse who regularly checks in on Eusebio.
- PRIEST: A spiritual guide for Flora and Eusebio in their later years.
✨ About the Show:
Boleros for the Disenchanted follows the life of Flora, a young Puerto Rican woman who faces heartbreak and ultimately finds love. Act I (1953) tells of their passionate beginnings, while Act II (1992) explores the challenges of marriage, aging, and the secrets that resurface later in life. This is a deeply moving story about the struggle to hold on to love amidst life's trials.
