William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, Twelfth Night, plumbs the very up-to-date idea of gender fluidity, which is central to its tale of love and mistaken identity.

CASTING: 13 characters, ages 18 to 60 (the role of the musician has been cast)

CHARACTERS:

• ORSINO: Duke of Illyria
• CURIO: Orsino’s bodyguard 
• VALENTINE: An officer.
• VIOLA: Sebastian’s twin sister.
• CAPTAIN / BODYGUARD / PRIEST
• TOBY: Olivia’s uncle.
• MARIA: Lady-in-Waiting for Olivia.
• ANDREW: A knight and Toby’s friend. Technically, a member of Orsino’s court.
• FESTE: A jester in Olivia’s Court
• OLIVIA: A countess.
• MALVOLIO: The steward in Olivia’s court.
• SEBASTIAN: Viola’s twin brother.
• ANTONIO: Wanted for piracy.
