AUDITIONS for ANTONI and CLEOPATRA: A Shakespeare Jawn

WHO

  • Brittany Gallman (director and co-producer) and ThatTyrone Brown (assistant director and co-producer)
  • Produced by Nxt Thrsdy in association with The Henrietta Project 

WHAT

  • Presented as part of the 2024 Philadelphia Fringe Festival 
  • casting fifteen (15) member ensemble. This will be non-traditional and gender neutral casting 
  • Black / African American and/or biracial actors and actresses representing a variety of ages
  • residents of Philly or reasonable distance from the City of Philadelphia 

WHEN

Rehearsals

  • regular rehearsals will be held July 22n thru August 31st, 2024
  • tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings or afternoons
  • rehearsals are a combination of virtual and in-person 

Performances

  • presented for five consecutive Sundays in September as part of 2024 Philadelphia Fringe Festival (Sundays, September 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2024)
  • performances will from 3:00pm - 5:00pm 
  • venue is IPaM @TheLenni at 1608 Ridge Avenue

*Note, we may be participating in a Philadelphia Fringe Festival evening “preview” in mid-August and also host a special “happy hour” event at Fringe Arts in late August as well.

WHERE

  • rehearsals will be combination of virtual and in-person 
  • virtual rehearsals via Google Meet
  • in-person rehearsal space information pending  

WHY

  • honorarium of $100 minimum will be provided for participating
  • being part of a fifteen-member ensemble
  • challenge presenting Shakespeare with a Philly twist

SUBMIT VIDEO AUDITION via [email protected]. VIDEO SUBMISSION DEADLINE is Monday, JULY 29th by 6:00pm

  • Prepare a 60-SECOND MONOLOGUE or SCENE OF YOUR CHOICE, does not have to be Shakespeare (or longer but nothing more than 3 minutes, please).
  • Record YOUR VIDEO AUDITION via PHONE or COMPUTER (ideal length for recording is 4 - 6 minutes max). 
  • State FULL NAME, NAME OF PIECE and TITLE OF PLAY and finally, use the final few minutes to ANSWER THREE QUESTIONS: 
  1. What other gifts and/or talents do you have? 
  2. Are you comfortable dance/movement (if a piece required it)? If NO, this is not a problem, nor will it keep you from being considered for the show
  3. Have you heard of Shakespeare's ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA?  If NO, this is not a problem, nor will it keep you from being considered for the show

Zoom AUDITION on Monday, July 29th. Choose 10 minute slot between 4:00 - 6:00pm (ideally your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice):

Auditions will be held will either be held at - IPaM @The Lenni, 1608 Ridge Avenue or the co-producer's (Tyrone Brown) apartment, located at 452 East Girard Avenue in the Fishtown area. To schedule time email [email protected].
