Lantern Theater Company is seeking an Artistic Associate for Community Outreach and Engagement, a new position responsible for the coordination and implementation of our community outreach program in Northwest Philadelphia, focused on relationship building with independent artists, businesses, and nonprofit and civic organizations in advance of opening our Mt. Airy Theater.

Reporting to the Artistic and Executive Directors, this position also includes coordination of artistic and community events throughout Northwest Philadelphia, door-to-door canvassing stewardship of donors, overseeing all corporate sponsor activations, funder acknowledgments, and follow-up. The position will also be responsible for assisting with the details for the annual gala and all fundraising/donor-related events.

  • Work with the Lantern’s Production team to execute artistic and community events.
  • Maintain a database of community outreach, including partners and participants in the artistic and community events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working in creative fields; experience in professional, not-for-profit theater a plus.
  • Highly motivated, organized, self-starter with demonstrated strength in both spoken and written communications. This position will serve as a liaison between Lantern executive leadership and community representatives, so communications skills must be stellar.
  • Must be able to execute multiple ongoing projects and meet deadlines.
  • Able to listen carefully to community partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office apps, email, and other standard office software.
  • Ability to understand and structure budgets for small artistic projects.
  • Must have some evening/weekend availability as needed for events.
  • Ability to embrace and demonstrate the Lantern’s mission, values, and IDEAS commitment.
  • Preference will be given to residents of Northwest Philadelphia.
