You have been officially summoned to Audition for Agatha Christie's The Witness for the Prosecution
Announcement:
Ladies and gentlemen of the acting profession, we present before you an opportunity of the utmost gravity and distinction. Town and Country Players Theater summon those with the requisite talent and fervor to partake in the esteemed production of Agatha Christie's The Witness for the Prosecution.
Hear ye, hear ye! Auditions will convene at Buckingham Township Building (Lower Room by Police Office), 4613 Hughesian Dr, Buckingham, PA 18912 from 7PM-9PM on Thursday, May 15th and again from 1PM-3PM on Saturday, May 17th. Callbacks (If necessary) will be at the same location from 1PM-3PM on Sunday, May 18th.
You are hereby called to prepare a monologue and stand ready for cold readings from the script, demonstrating your capability to navigate the intricate web of deceit and justice. Present your case with unwavering conviction and join us in bringing this extraordinary courtroom drama to life. Please arrive 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork.

The trial runs September 19, 20, 26, 27, and October 3 & 4 at 8:00PM, September 21, 27, 28 & October 4 at 2:00 PM.
Other dates that are mandatory are September 13 & 14 all day, and the evenings of September 15, 16, 17. All shows are performed at Town and Country Players Theater.
Town and Country Players Theater is a volunteer organization. All roles are unpaid. This is a non-equity production.
About the Show:
The Witness for the Prosecution, a courtroom drama by Agatha Christie, follows the trial of Leonard Vole, a young man accused of murdering a wealthy widow, Emily French, who had left him her fortune. The play unfolds in a tense courtroom setting, where the evidence against Leonard seems overwhelming, particularly due to the testimony of his wife, Romaine, who appears to be his alibi but has her own secrets.
As the trial progresses, twists and turns reveal the complexities of the case, with surprising revelations about the characters’ motives and relationships. The play examines themes of justice, morality, and deception, leaving the audience questioning the truth behind each witness’s testimony.
The masterful plot twists and Christie's signature suspense build to a gripping climax, challenging perceptions of guilt and innocence. Ultimately, The Witness for the Prosecution is a compelling exploration of the intricacies of the human psyche set against the backdrop of a riveting legal battle.
Main Characters:
Leonard Vole: Charming, seemingly naive man accused of murder. Must balance sincerity and deception, keeping the audience guessing about his innocence. Needs strong emotional range, from confidence to desperation.
Sir Wilfrid Robarts: Sharp, witty, and commanding defense barrister. Must convey intelligence, authority, and a flair for courtroom theatrics.
Romaine: Mysterious, calculating, and passionate. Must be able to switch between vulnerability and cold manipulation.
Mr. Myers: Formidable, methodical prosecutor. Needs sharp delivery and an authoritative presence.
Mr. Mayhew: Practical, composed solicitor with a dry wit. Must have a measured, reassuring presence.
Janet McKenzie: Loyal, cantankerous housekeeper. Must convey deep-seated suspicion and a no-nonsense attitude.
Greta: Sir Wilfrid’s excitable, opinionated secretary. Needs comedic timing and brisk energy.
Inspector Hearne: Composed, professional detective. Needs a calm, authoritative demeanor.
