The Performance Garage will host a panel discussion centered around the spaces and opportunities available for dancers within the field of theatre. This is a continuation of their ongoing Hub Chats programming, relaxed group dialogues focusing on relevant topics for dance artists. This conversation will be geared to performing artists interested in Broadway, musicals, immersive theatre, dance theatre companies, and commercial dance. Join a panel of Guest Artists from NYC and Philadelphia who work on the intersection between dance and theatre for an informal discussion and chance to ask questions. Learn about current artistic trends, gain practical knowledge about how to land a job, and consider how the field may change in the future. This is a broad topic that can encompass and be shaped by the interests of the group at hand.

The panel will include:

Erik Abbott-Main is a current member of Punchdrunk, performing in their New York production of Sleep No More (Macbeth). Additional Immersive Theatre credits include Third Rail Projects’ The Grand Paradise (Dad, original cast) & Anatomaie Occulti’s Sweeney Todd (Turpin). He has also performed for choreographers Kristina Isabelle Dance Company, Stefanie Nelson Dancegroup, and Peter Sparling Dance Company. Erik creates under the moniker Boy Friday, which embeds interdisciplinary inquiry within a movement praxis.

After ten years of dancing with Philadanco, Dawn Marie Bazemore transitioned into Musical Theatre, performing ensemble and featured roles in various Broadway and regional theater productions, including: All Shook Up, Dreamgirls, Purlie, and The Color Purple. Her company #dbdanceproject is dedicated to investigating the socio-political issues that affect the African American community. She is a recent Choreographic Fellow at Jacob’s Pillow and professor at Rowan University.

Matthew Decker co-founded Theatre Horizon, where he has directed over 15 productions. He served for eight seasons as the Associate Artistic Director at Arden Theatre Company, and founded the Arden Cabaret Series, a quarterly series featuring original content by Philadelphia’s leading musical theater artists. Matthew is a three-time Barrymore Award winning director, and his production of Into the Woods at Theatre Horizon was recognized with the 2015 Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical.

Paige Price is the Producing Artistic Director at Philadelphia Theatre Company, following ten years as Executive Artistic Director at Theatre Aspen in Colorado. After years spent as a Broadway performer, which includes starring in the original casts of Saturday Night Fever and Disney's Beauty and the Beast, she began producing events, television shows, and theatre in the U.S. and abroad. Price is currently a member of the Tony Award Nominating Committee.
