Opera Philadelphia is in search of Volunteer Light Walkers to help our creative teams during the tech process for the three shows in our upcoming O23 Festival: Simon Boccanegra at the Academy of Music, 10 Days in a Madhouse at the Wilma Theater, and Unholy Wars at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre.
Light Walkers will stand onstage in place of the performers so that the Lighting Designer and the Director can determine the lighting of the show by seeing how it will look on real human faces. Please keep in mind that it requires mostly standing for long periods of time (though there will be breaks), and there may be dark corners and uneven surfaces. Some show-specific things to note: first, the set for Simon Boccanegra is on a turntable, and you may be asked to stand or walk on it while it's turning. And second, the set of 10 Days in a Madhouse includes a tall platform, which you may be asked to stand on top of. (It is a very large, solid structure--the orchestra will be playing from up there--and there are safety railings all around the perimeter.)
The slots we are looking to fill are below; please respond with the date(s), time(s), and show(s) you are available for, and how many shifts you would be interested in signing up for.
