About the Show: [title of show] is a one act 90 minute musical, that chronicles it’s own self creation as an entry into The New York Musical Theatre Festival. After it was chosen and receives critical acclaim, it went on to an off-Broadway run at The Vineyard Theatre, before eventually transferring to Broadway for a limited run in the summer of 2008. [title of show] strips away the glitz and glam from Broadway Production value, and really challenges the audience to a show focused on storytelling, with nothing on stage more than “4 Chairs And A Keyboard” (and a brief projection fantasy sequence but lol we’ll get to that). As the show progresses, and the pressure of success challenges the 4 actor’s friendship and professional correspondence, the question becomes would I rather be “Nine People’s Favorite Thing” or a Hundred People’s Ninth Favorite Thing?

Preparation: Please prepare a 16-32 bar cut in the style of the show. Singing from the show is A-Ok. Accompanist will be provided. No a ccapella singing or singing with a CD. Please prepare to read from the script as well.

Note from the director: [TOS] is rooted in self expression and artistry, so please pick something that you really feel showcases YOU. For performers auditioning for Hunter and Jeff: Note high ranges of these two roles, so try to have a cut that showcases your tenor chops.

All 4 performers will be paid a stipend of $250 each ($200 for performing and $50 to get off book as soon as possible).
