About us: Launched in May 2020, The Unscripted Project is an award-winning Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization that develops young peoples’ social-emotional and interpersonal skills through the transformative medium of improvisational theater. We offer a 10-week series of in-class, in-person improv workshops taught by professional teaching artists.

Job Description: Teaching Artist

  • Teach Unscripted’s improv curriculums and workshops for schools in the next school year
  • Work with The Unscripted team and partners to brainstorm, adapt and revise improv curriculum and teaching strategies
  • Evaluate and monitor student progress throughout workshops 
  • Hours will be flexible upon your availability but pre-determined prior to the semester beginning
  • Teaching Artists must be committed to a full-day training retreat Sunday, September 8 and to teach their assigned classe/s for 10-week periods at their scheduled time/s. 
  • All new TAs are paid $45/hour for teaching time and $35/hour for prep (each class taught will include one hour of prep)
  • Note: opportunities to teach corporate professional development workshops available as well

This role will be paid competitive hourly rates and be in person. There will be opportunities to continue teaching and working with us for the long-term.

How To Apply

What we are looking for: 

  • Background in teaching improv / performing arts to school-aged students
  • Existing understanding or a want to learn about trauma-informed education, culturally responsive teaching and creating a safe learning environment 
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about bringing improv to public schools in Philadelphia
  • Energetic, compassionate individual who cares about the mission of our organization
  • Background in K-12 education, psychology, or social work is a plus
  • Spanish speaking is a plus
