The Candlelight Theatre, located in historic Ardentown, Delaware (30 minutes from Center City, Philadelphia) is accepting pictures (headshot or recent photo) and resumes for its upcoming production of Into The Woods (music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Lapine). The production will be directed by Peter Reynolds with Choreography by DJ Passman. Seeking non-union, singers, actors, and dancers, of all types, and ethnicity. Rehearsals will start approximately Monday, July 24, 2023 thru September 15, 2023. The production runs September 16 – October 29, 2023.
All roles are open and paid. Performers may also have the opportunity to work in the restaurant during the run of the show to supplement their income.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Narrator/ Mysterious Man -Intellectual, pleasant storyteller who helps to orchestrate the show and illustrate lessons to the audience. A mischievous vagrant and nosy meddler. He is a good-natured protector and observer.

Cinderella - A young, earnest maiden who is constantly mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters.

Jack -The feckless Giant killer who is 'almost a man.' He is adventurous, naive, energetic, and bright-eyed.

Jack's Mother -Browbeaten and weary, Jack's protective mother who is independent, bold, and strong-willed.

The Baker - A harried and insecure yet simple and loving. Protective of his family. He wants his wife to be happy and is willing to do anything to ensure it. Refuses to let others fight his battles.

The Baker's Wife - Determined and bright woman who wishes to be a mother. She leads a simple, yet satisfying life and is very low-maintenance yet proactive in her endeavors.

Cinderella's Stepmother - The mean-spirited, demanding stepmother of Cinderella.

Florinda and Lucinda - Cinderella's stepsisters who are black of heart. They follow in their mother's footsteps in abusing Cinderella.

Little Red Riding Hood - A spoiled young girl who is strong-willed, quick-witted, fearless, yet youthful and naive. Gender: Female; Vocal range: Bb3 - F5
The Witch - Sarcastic, cursed-then-transformed, straightforward, aggressive, and obsessive protector of Rapunzel.

Cinderella’s Mother/ Giant/ Little Red’s Grandmother - Deceased, but her soul guards and aids her daughter from a tree. Voiceover. The Giant's wife: An angry and vengeful 'monster.' She is seeking restitution for her loss.

Wolf/ Cinderella's Prince - Hungry and insatiable hunter who takes advantage of the weak by misleading and captivating his prey. Vain, he is a disloyal lover who is currently searching for the next new, exciting thing.

Rapunzel - A loopy-but-lovely maiden who is sheltered by the Witch and terribly lonely. She yearns to experience the world.
