Each character in WITS is a denizen of the city Uptown or Downtown. Uptowners are affluent and socially advantaged, while Downtowners are considerably less well off. Coventry High School, where many of the characters attend high school, is located Uptown and is mostly composed of students who live in that privileged neighborhood. 

We are accepting video submissions to fill the following roles: 

 Amanda: 17-year-old Black woman, senior in high school. Uptowner. Vocal part: alto

Tyler:17-year-old Black man, a senior in high school. Downtowner, but has lived uptown on and off over the years Lighter-skinned than all the other characters. In the foster system. Vocal part: bari-tenor

Lars: Black, genderqueer 17-year-old senior in high school.Uptowner. Vocal part: baritone 

Cool: 24-34-year-old Black man. Downtowner. Movement quality jerky and disconnected, like a birthday party clown. Vocal part: bass

Mad/Ms. Frank: [Mad] 20-year-old Black person part of Cool’s posse. Resents being subject to any sort of control. [Ms. Frank] 50-60 year old Black woman. Tyler’s foster mom. Vocal part: soprano/alto

Hap/Mrs. Dial: [HAP] 22-30 year old Black person part of Cool’s posse. High energy, but not very bright. [Mrs. Dial] 45-50 year old Black woman. Amanda’s mother. Uptowner, and very snooty. Vocal part: alto

Stoop/Dr. Craigen: [Stoop} 23-30 year old Black man part of Cool’s posse. Downtowner. Overweight, slow-moving, pragmatic. [Dr. Craigen] 60-65 year old Black man. Uptowner. Hippie outlook on life. Vocal part: tenor/bari-tenor

Ensemble: high-school aged. Strong vocal and/or dance ability.
