About Our Organization Performance Garage, a non-profit dance center and theater, is in its 24th year of serving the Philadelphia dance community whose mission is to create an environment that nurtures dance artists and facilitates the building of a broader audience for dance in Philadelphia. We serve approximately twenty thousand people per year. As an incubator and hub for local dance talent, the Performance Garage offers subsidized rental rates for artists to host their classes, workshops, rehearsals, and performances, as well as a free after-school dance program for youth.

Aside from our robust community of subsidized studio and theater renters (DanceSpace) our additional programs include HubChats (community discussions on topics central to dancers and dance-makers), DanceFilms, (showings of relevant dance related films), YouthMoves (free youth engagement classes), and DanceVisions (Resident Artist creation of new work). This position offers the opportunity to help build on the aspirations of our current strategic plan: to be a nationally recognized dance organization, creating a sustainable home for artistic excellence and providing diverse programming for Philadelphia audiences. The Front of House Manager works closely with the Rental and Production Managers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

● Meets with performance renters and maintains an ongoing dialogue to make sure they have everything necessitated for a successful rental experience.

● Prepare lobby & audience spaces previous to public’s arrival

● Welcome guests & provide information on facility as well as current & upcoming events at the Performance Garage

● Sell tickets & check-in patrons (via Eventbrite)

● Assists in data entry of attendance and demographic reports

● Issue parking vouchers

● Distribute programs & audience engagement surveys

● Pre-show, front-of-house speeches as-required

● Assisting with late seating

● Cleaning the space after the shows, making sure there is no trash left behind in the theater

● Communicates/liaisons/collaborates with Rental and Production Managers, and Custodial team to present the best possible setting for renters and the public.

Approximately (4) hours per Performance at $20 an hour. Evening and weekend hours are necessary. Schedule is flexible and will be set on a month-by-month basis depending on Performances. This would be an occasional position dependent on the number of performances that are booked at the Performance Garage. Some prior experience in performing arts house management and/or with ticketing software is preferred.
