Steel River in Pottstown, PA seeks a part-time Facilities and Rentals Manager to work with the Executive Director and Staff to lead the company into its next exciting phase.

About Steel River Playhouse 

Steel River Playhouse is a non-profit theatre and education organization dedicated to sharing stories that reflect our collective humanity. Steel River is located in Pottstown, PA in a 2.4 million dollar performing arts center with a 200-seat mainstage space and a 100-seat blackbox space. The Playhouse has become an economic driver for downtown Pottstown and, since its founding, Steel River Playhouse has staged over 150 productions, entertained over 200,000 audience members, and educated 20,000 students. Our 2024-2025 season has 7 mainstage shows and additional seasonal educational programming. The Facilities and Rentals Manager will assist the Executive Director in designing and implementing new rental programs for Steel River Playhouse.

We are opening the doors to new and exciting artists, eliminating obstacles for people to attend though diverse ticketing strategies, expanding our volunteer opportunities, and inviting small businesses, charities, and community organizations into our building and programming. 

The Facilities and Rentals Manager will report to the Executive Director. 

Areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

70% - Facilities

  • Develop and implement daily and ongoing cleaning and maintenance schedules and procedures for all facility systems.
  • Manage facility supply ordering and assist in Front of House supply orders as needed
  • Manage and schedule janitorial and waste management services
  • Manage facility security, including alarms, keys, and related systems
  • Providing training, information, and support on facility systems to SRP staff and contractors as needed.
  • Manages all repairs for the facilities as needed including HVAC, electric, wireless internet, and more. 
  • In coordination with the Artistic Producer and Technical Director, maintains a room schedule and all inquiries into space use. 
  • Prep spaces for use by internal and external parties.
  • Manage existing and new vendor relationships.
  • Maintain and negotiate vendor contracts.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage vendor job assignments, completion, records, and financial accountability.

30% - Rentals

  • In coordination with the Executive Director, create and manage a new events rental system. 
  • Field and coordinate any and all rental inquiries.
  • Manage external events and staffing needs for external events. 
  • Distribute, negotiate, and implement contracts for all event rentals. 

Ideal Qualifications include:

  • 1-3 years in facilities or rental management with previous facilities or rental experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Understanding of facility management and an aptitude for new technologies.
  • Ability to manage volunteers and events
  • Solid verbal and communication skills
  • Strong communication skills in diverse, collaborative environments.
  • Experience and knowledge in integrating diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility into day-to-day work.
  • Ability to work in an environment that prioritizes flexibility, innovation, and efficiency and seeks and welcomes fresh talent and perspectives from the broader theater community.
  • Ability to collaborate to produce ambitious and inclusive theatrical work.

Location and Schedule

Some in-person work hours required at 245 E High Street Pottstown, PA with flexible remote hours to be determined. Additional weekend and evening in-person hours may be required depending upon production schedules. Local residency in Montgomery County or the Greater Philadelphia area, or a willingness to move, is required. 

Salary Range

As this position will work around minors, applicants will be required to obtain three different background certifications before hiring: Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Check, and a FBI Criminal History Check.
