South Camden Theatre Company, in collaboration with The Strides Collective, is now accepting non-union audition submissions for a special June 2023 production.
STOP KISS by Diana Son
Directed by Jonathan Edmondson (he/him)
After Callie, a jaded New Yorker, meets Sara, a visiting elementary school teacher, the two unexpectedly fall in love. Their first kiss in a public park in New York City provokes a violent attack that transforms their lives in a way they could never anticipate. Told through a series of poignant, nonlinear vignettes, Stop Kiss is a beautiful meditation on the nuances of queer relationships.

Callie (she/her, Early 30s) - works as a traffic reporter in New York City, where she has lived for eleven years. Callie helps Sara learn her way around the city, and, in the process, begins to learn more about herself. Savvy, sarcastic, clever, and guarded.
Sara (she/her, Late 20s) - moved to New York City from St. Louis to accept a teaching fellowship at an elementary school in The Bronx. Having never left her hometown, she leans heavily on Callie to adjust to her new life. Intelligent, shy, curious, and open.
George (he/him, Early 30s) - A bartender who met Callie in college; they have been on-again-off-again “friends with benefits” ever since. One of Callie’s confidants. Headstrong, loud, and passionate.
Peter (he/him, Late 20s) - A chef and Sara's ex-boyfriend from St. Louis. Upon hearing of Sara’s attack, he comes to New York City to be with her. Peter is still in love with Sara. Romantic, naive, and jealous.
Mrs. Winsley/The Nurse (she/her, Mid 30s+) - Mrs. Winsley is a witness to the attack against Sara and Callie, and is interrogated by Detective Cole. The actor cast in this role will double as Sara's nurse. Supportive, observant, and inquisitive.
Detective Cole (he/him, Mid 30s+) - the detective assigned to Callie and Sara's case. He is the first to hear the story of what happened to them the night they were attacked. Clinical, persistent, and meticulous.
