Audition Notice — Summer One-Act Bonanza 2024

Old Academy Players [3544 Indian Queen Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19129; 215-843-1109; https://oldacademyplayers.org/] is pleased to announce the audition date of Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:00 am for the Summer One-Act Bonanza. Performed at the Old Academy Players theater, the 2024 Summer One-Act Bonanza will run from July 12th through July 21st, 2024.  Every summer we feature new comedies, new directors and original scripts from our talented members. Join us for a fast-paced theatre experience of short plays designed to put a smile on your face.

Auditions:

Old Academy Players welcomes new talent! Please note: Old Academy Players is a non-profit community theater.  All roles are performed on a volunteer basis. If you are auditioning for a show, please complete our Audition Form [https://oldacademyplayers.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/OAP-Forms-for-web_Audition-Form.pdf] in advance of the audition.

Audition Date & Time: Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:00am

All roles are non-union, non-paying.

Location of Auditions:  Old Academy Players located at 3544 Indian Queen Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19129. There is free parking onsite, located behind the theater.

Audition Requirements:

  • We are seeking several actors of all ages, races, and gender identities.  Actors may be cast in multiple roles.

  • Auditions will be cold readings from the scripts. We encourage you to read the scripts posted under each play. On the day of the audition, be prepared to choose your first-choice role as you will only read once at the audition.  We will hear actors in order of arrival.

  • Please note that Old Academy is a non-profit theater organization and all actors and staff are volunteers.

     

  • Complete our Audition form and bring to auditions along with your Headshot and resume.

     

  • Send any questions to [email protected].

     

  • All actors cast in one or more plays will be required to assist with set-building Sunday, June 23 and set strike on Sunday, July 21.

     

  • In addition, performers are required to assist the hospitality committee with one performance of Our Town (June 7- June 23).

The Old Academy Players has provided continuous community theater entertainment since 1923 and is a non-profit community theater in East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia. Constructed in 1819, the Old Academy building has been the OAP home since 1932. Old Academy Players is a member of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.  Most notable alumni include Tony Award-nominated actor Robert Prosky and Hollywood icon, Grace Kelly.  Support is provided by the "Philadelphia Cultural Fund".
