CALL FOR ADJUDICATORS
The Philadelphia Independence Awards, Philly's nonprofit awards program dedicated to celebrating high school musical theater, seeks Adjudicators for its 2024-25 season!
All Adjudicators are required to see and evaluate approximately 15 high school musicals (within a 20-mile radius of Philadelphia's City Hall) and to complete an online evaluation within 48 hours of performances. Please note: we cannot guarantee you will be assigned performances in your own communities. Most productions occur Thursdays-Sundays in November, March, and April; some weekends (largely in the spring) may require you to see two or more productions.
Additional requirements include attendance at a paid virtual Adjudicator's training on Monday, October 21th at 7pm for one hour. Often you may bring a guest to performances.
Adjudicators are responsible for their own transportation to productions. While we try to schedule shows closest to the proximity of adjudicator residence for convenience, public transportation does not always go directly to each school. Travel stipend of $20 per show attended is offered to Adjudicators only at the end of the year upon completion of responsibilities. Adjudicators are not intended to be full-time positions or a primary income source.
This is an excellent opportunity for educators (or future educators), actors, technicians, production staff, musicians, and/or graduate theater/music/arts education students. Past adjudicators are welcome to re-apply. We strongly encourage artists of underrepresented communities to apply. All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetic information, disability, age, or veteran status.
Apply at www.independenceawards.com (click "Adjudicators"). Contact Brian Weiner, President ([email protected]), with any questions. Please apply by October 1, 2024.
