THREE NEW COURSES!

We have three exciting new courses to offer this spring. See below for details.

  • THE NON-DOMINANT ACTOR

8 Week Scene Study Course

Wednesday evenings 7-10pm

The Whole Shebang
March 29th - May 31st (no class April 26th and May 3rd)

Based on the "Non-Dominant" technique created by Ben Mathes, actors will spend 8 weeks exploring scene work and monologues while closely examining their specific relationship to process and practice. Each 3-hour class begins with a boundary practice and check-in, followed by a group warm-up.

  • JOURNEY THROUGH THE GIANTS.

    CHAPTER 2: "LUCID BODY"

8 Week Lab Based Course
Monday evenings 7-10pm

Mascher Space Cooperative
March 27th - May 22nd (No class May 1st)

Participants will gather as an ensemble and, through a lab-based approach, explore the teachings of a single theatrical giant at a time. "Lucid Body" is a fascinating and deeply impactful chakra based acting technique that has been championed by actors such as Winston Duke, Michael Howard, Lupita Nyong'o, and Ken Barnett.

It is important to note that Broken Mirror Lab courses are an ensemble based, collaborative exploration of techniques, rather than a traditional class with an expert teacher.

  • MASK & THE SOMATIC ACTOR  Level II (previous experience required)

1 Day Mask Workshop:

Saturday, April 15th, 4:00-8:00pm at Mascher Space Coop

Based on the revolutionary work developed by Per Brahe, Broken Mirror Studio is thrilled to offer a mask work that is as transformational to artists as it is profound. This work has been taught at The Moscow Art Theatre, Yale, NYU, SUNY Purchase, and Michael Howard Studios, as well in schools and theatres in Bali, Thailand, Berlin, Sydney, and Denmark. This workshop requires previous Mask and the Somatic Actor experience, as we'll be going deeper in the work and exploring on a more individual level.
